This year the 7th and the 8th graders will be writing letters to those that have served in the military. If you know someone who is a veteran please send their name, address, and what branch of military they served in to Mrs. Snyder's email. Her email is mcrall@co-u.net. Thank you!

It's time for our weekly Staff Spotlight, where we take time to introduce one of our amazing staff members to you, our community. We hope you enjoy getting to know us a little better. Today we introduce the amazing, Mrs. Shelby Hopp. She is one of our kind, caring and patient Preschool Teachers Aides. This is her 3rd year at Charter Oak- Ute. She has remained in the preschool all 3 years and really enjoys it.
One of the things Shelby loves most about working here is getting to talk and play with the preschool students every day. Her advice for anyone just starting their career here is, “Things do not always follow the plan that is in motion. When working with kids sometimes it is what it is.” She also shared with us that her favorite school meal is Lasagna Roll Ups.
After school hours Shelby enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband Jake and son Gaylen, as well as their dog, 2 cats and a beetle. Outside of work she loves going camping and seeing family.

The Charter Oak-Ute elementary students attended their first quarter Reading Celebration in the gym on Wednesday, October 18th. Members of Mr. Lally’s fourth grade class kicked off the assembly with a reader’s theater titled The Corps of Discovery, about the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Following the student segment, Mrs. Oberreuter handed out the classroom Reading Awards from the quarter. She then talked about the various genres that the 3rd-5th grade students have been covering and read a fable titled The Baboon’s Umbrella. Students then shared what lessons could be learned from the fable.
