It's time for our weekly Staff Spotlight, where we take time to introduce one of our amazing staff members to you, our community. We hope you enjoy getting to know us a little better. Today we introduce the wonderful Mrs. Laura Martz. She is our amazing 3rd grade Associate. This is her 3rd year at CO-U.
When asked how her role has changed during her time here, she states that she has learned a new respect for teachers. She said she has worked in all the elementary grades and had to learn to change her thoughts with each different class. One thing she loves most about working here is be able to watch students faces when they figure something out. She loves to see their eyes light up with understanding.
The advice she would give to someone just starting out here is “Sometimes dealing with kids can be a little rough but in the long run if you give them the love they are needing, it will be returned 10 fold to you. When stopping by the school cafeteria she said her favorite meal is Chicken Alfredo.
Outside of school Laura enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her significant other that she has been with for 15 years, her 88 yr old mother, daughter who is our 5th grade teacher, married son, 2 granddaughters, 5 step grand kids, and 3 step great grand kids. In her free time, she also enjoys working in her 9 flowerbeds, and sitting outside to enjoy nature.
COU will still have school today, January 17, 2024. We are 2 hours late. MVAO does not have school today because of heating issues. Thank you for your understanding.

The student council is hosting their winter formal dance this Friday from 6:00-9:30 for all middle schoolers! The concession stand will be open for pop, candy, and pizza! We look forward to seeing all of the middle schoolers dressed up!
