It's time for our weekly Staff Spotlight, where we take time to introduce one of our amazing staff members to you, our community. We hope you enjoy getting to know us a little better. Today we introduce Mr. Jim Staley. He does a great job as our Assistant Principal, Middle School Social Studies teacher, Athletic Director, and PBIS leader. He has worked at Charter Oak- Ute for 15 years! He first started his career at the Ute Elementary teaching the 6th grade. Then he moved to the Charter Oak building and started teaching 7-12 grade social studies. He became Dean of Students in 2020 and Assistant Principal in 2022. Some things Jim enjoys most about working here is being able to work in his home town and seeing his children at work every day. When asked what advice he would give to someone just starting their career here, he stated “Join a team and volunteer, we have great individuals that work here and it is fulfilling to get to know everyone on personal and professional levels.” He also reports that his all time favorite school meal was Potato Bar. Yum! Outside of school he enjoys spending time with his family. This includes his wife Jessica and their 5 children, Ace 16, Ella 14, Mia 12, Charlotte 8, and Cecilia 2. In his free time he enjoys watching his kids at their sporting events and traveling on family vacations. Additionally he enjoys running the family farm, fishing and hunting. He said “There is never a dull moment at our house.”
