It's time for our weekly Staff Spotlight, where we take time to introduce one of our amazing staff members to you, our community. We hope you enjoy getting to know us a little better. Today we introduce the wonderful Mrs. Brenda Christiansen.
Brenda wears several hats at CO-U. She is our fantastic Title I Reading teacher, a Building Leader, and Yearbook Staff. This is Brenda’s 30th year at Charter Oak- Ute! She has taught in both the Ute and Charter Oak schools. She started her career with us in 1994 as a teacher’s aide in 2nd grade, then in 1st grade, finishing that year teaching 3rd grade. Following that she went on to teach Title Reading, which led to teaching 5th grade for 2 years. After that she returned to Title Reading where she has remained.
One of the things that she enjoys most about working here is her students. She states “I love my students the most! They all put a smile on my face every day.” Her advice for those just starting their career here is “Enjoy what you do! Let the students bring you joy and laughter. Education is a balance of learning and having fun!” She also shared that her favorite school meal is Orange Chicken.
After school hours Brenda enjoys spending time with her family, which includes Lorne, her husband of 30 years. They have 3 children, Andrew and his wife Morgan, Ashton and her husband Jeremy, and Aric and his fiancé Emma. They also have 3 beautiful granddaughters, Kinsley, Blakely and Makena, with another grandchild on the way. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her granddaughters, traveling with her husband, watching movies and gardening.

Today we introduce the amazing Mrs. Lisa Cripps. She is our outstanding Kindergarten teacher. This is her 2nd year here at Charter Oak- Ute. She shared that one thing she loves the most about working here is the support she gets from her coworkers.
Advice that she would give to those just starting their career here is “Don’t be afraid to ask for help! There are so many people who are willing to help you!” When stopping by the lunchroom she says here favorite meal is chili and cinnamon rolls.
After school hours she enjoys spending time with her 2 children, Luke (17) who is a senior at Boyer Valley and Abby (12) who is in 7th grade at Charter Oak- Ute. Outside of work she enjoys walking her dogs, reading, traveling and going to her kids’ activities.

The JH boys had a rowdy cheering section for their game on Tuesday afternoon. We love this school spirit! GO BOBCATS!

Mrs. Green's 2nd graders read the story "Balloons Over Broadway" where they learned the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. They then had the opportunity to design their own balloons and then they wrote a persuasive piece of writing about why they think their design should be a part of the parade! We had so many creative ideas. We had a student create a snow globe of a Christmas scene, another designed a balloon dedicated to veterans. We also had different characters such a Pikachu and Spider-Man. We even had a couple of student design different emojis! Of course a few student designed balloons based on their beloved cats and dogs.
